GAME SUMMARIES

===========================================

Blood Wine

It is rumoured that war is on the verge of breaking out. Friction between two far flung empires, both intent on increasing their power, is said to be distorting the land. But what of such rumours in this
remote coastal region. There are more disturbing issues at hand. Baron Te Ligor, a decent winemaker, has taken early retirement and not been heard from since. A herd of broos has been spotted where none have crossed into this area in over three generations. Murmurings are afoot of a dark uprising. A skirmish between foreign trolls and local elves was stopped by a dragonnewt - all now joined in pursuit of an artifact known as the 'blood crystal'. Who will stop the chaos?

System: Runequest (Mongoose)
System Knowledge Needed: Provided as part of the session
Players: 4 – 6

Darkest Dawn

1925, Egypt.
The unsealing of King Tut’s tomb has captured the world’s imagination. Scientists, explorers, and profiteers descend on Egypt like a plague of locusts. Competition is fierce. As tomb after tomb is opened and looted, the remaining chances at finding fame and fortune grow ever slimmer.
Of course, there is a reason some things were buried.
Some things are better left that way.
GM: Jared
System: Dread (Jenga Tower)
System Knowledge Needed: None.
Players: 4 – 6
Game Style: Horror and Insanity (Call of Cthulhu-esqe)

Facility 17

You almost remember your life. A dull life. Quiet, monotonous, with a nagging feeling something was wrong with it. It’s almost indistinct now, just a blur of vague memories. Did you volunteer to get away from it all, or were you simply taken from it?
Awakening in Facility 17, remembering little, one thought remains. There’s something you desperately need to recall… and fast…
GM: Jared
System: Mostly Systemless
System Knowledge Needed: None.
Players: 4 – 6
Game Style: White Room Game, light action bent

Inscribed in Stone

The kingdom of Arcadia is in crisis. Silverlode, Arcadia’s main dwarven mine, has been overtaken by an army of orcs. But there is still hope. An ancient stone tablet, hidden in the Greenstone caves, is said to show a secret passage into Silverlode. Unfortuntely the cave has been taken over by a group of goblins who have been raiding the local village. The Mayor has asked for your aid in defeating the goblins, and retrieving the tablet.

Without it, the slaughter at Silverlode will be terrible. Many lives hang on your actions… GM: Helen
Game System: Dungeons and Dragons 3.5
System Knowledge Needed: A little
Players: 4-5
Game Style: dungeon crawl

Revenge of the Gnomes

In the quaint suburb of Riverside life has become dangerous for some of its smallest and mostly overlooked inhabitants. The diminutive Homo Gnomenis that dwell amongst the flower gardens of the locals have been targeted by a brutish band of vicious juvenile Homo Sapiens operating out of a fortified community nearby. With the Gnome death toll at over fifty confirmed now, action is being taken to eliminate the threat.

GMing at Battlecry For those who are willing to run a game at Battlecry, please e-mail us with your intention to do so at info@theamericaclub.net.nz and provide a brief blurb on what the game is about so that we can post it on the webpage above.
If you are paying for participation in any tournament, you can gain a $5 reimbursement if you run a game in one of the sessions. For running games in multiple sessions and thereby excluding yourself from qualification for prizes in the two-day tournaments, you will not be charged for the event.

PRIZES & ELIGIBILITY
Awards of Top Player and Top GM are chosen by votes. Each game players and GM’s get up to 2 voting forms where they nominate people for awards. The nominations might be for great roleplaying, or an excellent one-liner, or pulling off a daring plan, or even just because they were just so darn lucky. You might vote for the GM for an awesome game, excellent accents of the baddies, for such a creative adventure. At the end of the fourth round all the votes are counted, taking into account how many sessions the nominated played or GM’d in.
Each of the GM’s have a special prize to award to someone in their game(s) who they think deserves the special award. Their reasons for awarding it are their own and we disavow any involvement in the final selection, honest!

LOCATION

These games will be hosted in the Language Block of Selwyn College, accessible by the set of stairs just to the left of the ASB Stadium entrance.

These games are not open for viewing for non-participants.

As the HMAS Pegasus cruised steadily onward over the Atlantic towards New York, the passengers aboard had little inkling of the chaos that was about to erupt. As dinner was about to be served, violence erupted and started sweeping through the ship. A handful of passengers reacted quickly enough to flee to back of the vessel, and this is where they now huddle and listen to the steady sounds of carnage further forward.
